Cambio interview Part 2

Ace Of Bass: Chris Cheney

Bow Chika wah wah!

T’was Bass day in the studio this morning.  I’m not a morning person at all (except for Christmas morning) but we were up and tracking by 9:00 am.  We brought in Chris Cheney to slap-a-da-bass and lock down the groove.  Chris is originally from the Bay area in California but has made a permanent residence here in Los Angeles.  Chris has recorded and toured with Alanis Morissette, Jane’s Addiction, Slash, Michelle Branch, Carly Simon and a lot of other notible artists/bands.  Currently, Chris is rocking with Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders.  You can catch them in London next month at the Wireless Festival along side Pink, the Ting Tings, and so many more kick ass bands from around the Globe.

I was really impressed by Chris’s musicianship.  He came in prepared and delivered on each take.  I guess that should come as no suprise considering he studied at the Berklee School of music for two years.  That school has pumped out so many amazing musicians, it’s ridiculous.

The songs are really starting to come together now.  We’ll be tracking guitars, keys and vocals next week.  I’m a little excited…. just a bit.

Tumblr: The next Great Social Network?

Today I opened my tumblr account.  Starting an account on new social network platform is always interesting.  Some take off and grow exponentially (Facebook, Twitter, Myspace) and some die before you even know what there purpose is.  I’m not sure what the fate of Tumblr will be but for now it’s serving it’s purpose.

I’m currently in Los Angeles finishing up writing songs for my 3rd studio Album.  I’m slated to go into the studio sometime in mid-may and I plan to blog or “tumbl” about it through it’s duration.

Thanks to twitter I’m not used to writing paragraphs longer than 140 characters.  Untill I warm up to the intricacies of tumblr I figure I should keep my first post short and sweet.

Till next time,

Hlookoff
